The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has cautioned the All Progressives Congress (APC) against destabilising Osun state.

Speaking in Osogbo on Sunday on behalf of the forum, Seyi Makinde, Oyo state governor, said Osun must not be turned into the “wild wild west.”

The Wild West, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, refers to the western United States during the 19th-century frontier period, characterised by lawlessness, rugged individualism, and the expansion into unsettled territories.

Makinde called for adherence to the rule of law and warned against political conflict.

He was joined by Bala Mohammed, Bauchi state governor and chairman of the forum.

The governors had attended the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected local government chairmen by Ademola Adeleke, Osun governor.

Makinde warned that those inciting unrest in Osun should remember history and avoid pushing the state into crisis over matters that can be resolved through the judiciary.

“Anybody who has a grievance should seek judicial redress instead of resorting to self-help,” he said.

He added that PDP governors are focused on delivering democratic dividends.

He commended Adeleke for “fulfilling his promises” to the people of Osun.

“If anybody has a judgement, there is a procedure for enforcing court decisions. It is illegal to resort to self-help,” Makinde said.
