The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Felix Morka, has claimed that he has received death threats due to remarks he made about Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the 2023 election.
Morka made the claim during an appearance on Arise
Television on Wednesday.
According to him, he has received over 400 threats and at
least 200 of them threatened his life.
The spokesman for the ruling party said the threats were
triggered by Obi’s claim that his remarks during another interview constituted
a threat to the LP candidate’s life.
“Peter Obi’s allegations that my words in that interview
threatened his life have triggered serious consequences,” Morka said.
“As of now, I have documented 400 threats, about 200 of
which are explicit death threats. These are written threats that I will be
submitting to law enforcement agencies.
“In these messages, individuals have detailed how they plan
to harm me—threatening to shoot me, behead me, and carry out other gruesome
acts.”
Morka had said: “Obi has crossed the line so many times”
adding that “whatever he has coming to him, he should manage it.”
According to Obi, since Morka made the statement, he has
been receiving messages, including threats to his life and that of those around
him.
However, Morka clarified that the comment was a direct
response to the question about Obi being labelled a voodoo economist and
prophet of doom.
