Users of WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook are reporting issues worldwide.

On Wednesday evening, Downdetector shows big spikes for Instagram with 70,000 outage reports above average and Facebook, which had over 100,000 outage reports.

Several users have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express frustration at being unable to send messages, or view the latest posts on the Meta-controlled apps.

Meta is yet to speak on causes of the outage and when it will be fixed.

But WhatsApp took to X to write: “We’re aware of some issues accessing WhatsApp. We’re actively working on a solution and starting to see a return to normal for most people. We expect things to be back to normal shortly”.

It was recently reported that 3.29 billion people used at least one of Meta’s core products daily.
