Former Senator Shehu Sani has charged Nigerians to read and
understand issues before expressing their minds in the public domain
According to him, people do not read anything more than a
page to understand the content; they rely on social media to make decisions.
Senator Shehu Sani who said this on his verified Facebook
page noted that a man who did not read the content of a tax reform bill before
the National Assembly claimed it was aimed at increasing taxes on Nigerians,
impoverishing the North and enriching Lagos.
He wrote “A man told me that the Tax Reform Bill before the National Assembly is aimed at increasing taxes on Nigerians, impoverishing the North and enriching Lagos.
“I got a hard and soft copy of the Bill from NASS. I invited
him for breakfast and gave him a copy of the Bill to show me where those issues
are factored or written. He couldn’t.
“Then he said he just overheard people saying it and that’s
why he also said it. Now that is the danger of reading nothing but social
media. Many people nowadays don’t read anything that is more than one page
whether it’s an article or a document.”
