Our Correspondent reports that tension has continued to build in Kano as a result of battle for the throne of the ancient commercial city between Emir Aminu Ado Bayero and Emir Muhammad Sanusi 11, two cousins who have been laying claims to the soul of the Kano throne.
Emirs are entitled to conduct the traditional Durbar during Sallah celebrations, but security agencies have decided to ban the Durbar activities so as to forestall breakdown of law and order as the two warring Emirs had decided to perform the traditional ritual which may result into avoidable crisis.
Briefing journalists shortly after meeting with other security heads at the Bompai police headquarters, the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, declared that all Durbar activities in Kano have been placed on ban for security reasons.
