The Yobe State Government has distributed Sallah packages and clothing to 1,360 almajirai in Tsangaya schools across the state.
The Executive Secretary of the Almajiri Integrated School Education Board (AISEB), Dr Umar Abubakar, flagged off the distribution in Damaturu.
He said each selected Tsangaya school received 40 pieces of clothing and 40 pairs of shoes for onward distribution to the almajirai, along with food palliatives handed over to the Ulamas.
According to the executive secretary, the Sallah package targets over 1,360 beneficiaries from various Tsangaya schools across the state.
He said the initiative was aimed to support the welfare of almajiras during the festive period.
He commended Governor Mai Mala Buni, for his unwavering commitment to the welfare and well-being of almajirai and other vulnerable groups in Yobe State.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Yobe State Tsangaya Schools Association, Goni Modu Goni Aisami, expressed gratitude to the state government under the leadership of Governor Buni for prioritizing the plight of almajirai and vulnerable citizens.
He also acknowledged the impactful changes made to improve the lives of almajirai and their teachers.
