A Minna Magistrate Court has ordered the remand of a 70-year-old man, Sabo Mohammed, from Manigi village in Mashegu Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State, at the Minna Correctional Facility for allegedly stabbing a police prosecutor to death.

The prosecuting officer, Inspector Emmanuel Ogiri, told the court that the suspect attacked and stabbed Inspector Nasiru Musa, a police prosecutor attached to the Magistrate Court in Mashegu.

He said the incident occurred on March 3, 2025, in Manigi village, after Mohammed accused the officer of having an affair with his junior wife.

He said the late Inspector Musa was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Bida but succumbed to his injuries.

Inspector Ogiri stated that the offense contravenes Section 221 of the Penal Code Law.

When the charge was read in court, the suspect pleaded guilty and expressed remorse for taking the law into his own hands.

Magistrate Hadiza Hamza Imam ordered Mohammed’s remand at the Minna Correctional Facility and adjourned the case to April 15, 2025 for ruling.
