Bandits have abducted eight farmers and four others at Kurata village near Kasangwai community in Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State.
A community leader from the area, who confirmed the incident to our reporter through telephone on Sunday, said it happened last Thursday around 5pm.
He said the eight victims, who were dry season farmers, were working at their farms when the bandits, wielding sophisticated weapons, rounded them up and whisked them away.
He said the bandits abducted four people from the village even as he said the abductors of the victims were yet to contact the family for ransom.
He said, “Around 6:23 pm on Friday, I received a call from Kasangwai that some farmers were abducted in Kurata village, while the troops in Kagarko have been informed about it.”
Our reporter learnt the bandits have shifted their base to Kasangwai axis after troops were said to have dislodged their base around Janjala and some neighboring communities under Kachia LGA, which borders Kagarko LGA in the area.
The spokesman of the Kaduna state police command, CSP Hassan Mansur, could not be reached for comment but a police source in the area confirmed the incident.
