Segun Adekoya has claimed victory at the 2025 Daniel Ogechi Akujobi Memorial Foundation (DOAMF) Golf Tournament, held at the prestigious Ikoyi Club 1938.
Adekoya, playing with a net score of 607, a gross of 80, and a handicap of 13, outperformed 200 other golfers to secure the title.
For the 14th consecutive year, the Ikoyi Club 1938 golf course has hosted the DOAMF Charity Golf Tournament, an event that annually brings together amateur golfers from within and beyond Nigeria. The tournament serves not only as a platform for fitness and sportsmanship but also as a significant charity initiative.
The organizers expressed their satisfaction with how the tournament has evolved over the years, emphasizing its dual impact of promoting golf talent and fostering philanthropy.
Obinna Chukwu, Chairman of the foundation’s Board of Trustees, highlighted the far-reaching effects of the foundation’s work, stating, “As of today, we have positively impacted over 95,000 lives through our various programs. This charity golf tournament serves as a major fundraising avenue, alongside other sponsorships, to support indigent students and brilliant individuals who lack financial backing.”
Similarly, Dan Akujobi, founder of the DOAMF, reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to assisting the less privileged.
“Our focus remains on helping those in need, especially in impoverished communities. We go beyond identifying these communities—we actively provide healthcare support and other essential services,” Akujobi stated.
Following his victory, Adekoya expressed his excitement and gratitude.
“I’m truly delighted because winning among 200 players is no small feat. The Ikoyi Golf Course is quite challenging, requiring full concentration and precision. I had to stay focused on every shot to succeed,” he said.
