Suspected kidnappers ambushed travellers along the Ayere-Kabba federal highway in Kogi State on Tuesday, abducting three passengers and leaving four others injured.
According to witnesses, the attack occurred around 3pm when gunmen blocked the road and began shooting indiscriminately.
Those injured were taken to a hospital in Kabba for treatment, while the abducted individuals were taken from two vehicles-a Hummer bus and a Toyota Camry sedan.
“The attackers kidnapped three passengers and took them into the bush. Four others, who suffered injuries, were left behind and later taken to a hospital in Kabba,” a source disclosed.
Some passengers reportedly managed to escape with gunshot wounds as the gunmen fired in all directions.
Efforts to get a response from Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP William Aya, were unsuccessful as he neither answered calls nor responded to messages.
