The Kano State government has inaugurated the 2025 Ramadan Feeding Programme to provide daily meals for fasting Muslims, particularly vulnerable residents, during the holy month.

Deputy governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, launched the initiative at Dandali Centre in Fagge Local Government Area.

Under the programme, 91 feeding centres will serve meals to 91,000 people daily for 27 days.

Speaking at the launch, Gwarzo, who chairs the programme, emphasised the importance of timely and effective food distribution, urging vendors to maintain high standards to fulfil the initiative’s humanitarian mission.

The event was attended by key government officials, including the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya; the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Sheikh Tijjani Auwal; and the Permanent Secretary of the Deputy Governor’s Office, all of whom serve on the Ramadan Feeding Programme Committee.

The Kano State government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting fasting Muslims and easing the economic burden on residents during Ramadan.
