Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has cautioned politicians against using security issues for political gains, warning that such actions endanger innocent lives.
Speaking at the Council Chambers of Sir Kashim Ibrahim House after receiving 58 kidnap victims who were rescued by security forces, the governor condemned those who exploit insecurity for their political interests.
“The merchants of insecurity will not be happy about the release of these innocent victims because they benefit from instability,” he said.
Governor Sani reaffirmed his commitment to protecting lives and property, emphasising that his administration has been actively working to enhance security across the state.
Through the Kaduna Peace Model, which prioritises non-kinetic approaches, previously volatile areas like Birnin Gwari have seen remarkable improvements, with bandits laying down arms and markets reopening after over a decade of closure.
He assured residents of Kauru, Kajuru and parts of Kachia that security forces are intensifying efforts to eliminate remaining threats, ensuring they can soon “sleep with their two eyes closed.”
The governor criticised political actors who spread misinformation on social media.
He said, “I don’t mind personal insults from political opponents, but I will take action against those who spread lies and exploit insecurity for political purposes.”
He said the 59 rescued kidnap victims received psycho-social therapy and medical treatment from the Kaduna State Government for 11 days, with one still undergoing treatment.
Governor Sani pledged to support the victims in rebuilding their lives by providing grants to help them resume their businesses and farming activities.
