The Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, has warned over 3,000 registered intending pilgrims from Kaduna State against carrying contraband items to Saudi Arabia to avoid issues with authorities.
He emphasised the need for proper awareness to ensure pilgrims understand the regulations prohibiting certain items during the pilgrimage.
During a meeting in his palace in Zaria with the Chairman of the Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Malam Salihu S. Abubakar, and a delegation from the Special Hajj Committee, the Emir commended the agency for its reforms.
He stressed that the improvements are vital to ensuring pilgrims receive value for their investments in the spiritual journey.
The emir also urged the Nigerian Embassy in Saudi Arabia to maintain strong collaboration with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to ensure Nigerian pilgrims are treated with dignity.
Malam Salihu S. Abubakar said 3,480 pilgrims have already been registered for the upcoming Hajj, and the agency has launched an extensive enlightenment programme to educate them on Hajj procedures, regulations and Islamic teachings.
