Once embattled Nasarawa United can now heave a sigh of relief as they are yet to suffer any defeat since the arrival of their new Technical Adviser, Coach Salisu Yusuf, who has led the ‘Solid miners’ to two away draws and a win at home.
It will be recalled that following a string of poor results under the former coach Kabiru Dogo, Nasarawa United turned to the experienced gaffer for help.
In his first match in charge of Nasarawa United, Yusuf guided his team to draw a 2-2 at Bayelsa United in week 25 and followed up with a crucial 1-0 home victory over table toppers Remo Stars in the following Matchday.
Nasarawa United recorded their second draw on the road under the new coach in Umuahia where they forced Abia Warriors to a 1-1 draw in the week 27 fixture played yesterday.
Abia Warriors took the lead through Sunday Megwo’s 36th minute goal but Mohammed Garba’s equalizer in the 41st minute proved enough for the crucial away point.
In a chat with Daily Trust after yesterday’s match, Salisu said: “I knew it wasn’t going to be easy but I believe in my ability to lead the rescue operation. I am happy that we are gradually moving away from the drop zone.
“It is too early to rejoice but it is still not too early to believe in our ability to retain our NPFL spot. We shall redouble our efforts in the remaining matches to finish strongly,” said the former El-Kanemi Warriors, Enyimba, Kano Pillars and Lobi Stars coach.
The results posted by Nasarawa United under the former Super Eagles coach have brightened their chances of survival as they are now 17th on the table with 31 points.
