President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, state governors, leaders and other stakeholders on Tuesday night attended a meeting of National Caucus of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The meeting took place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting holds ahead of the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party expected to take place at the party headquarters today.

It is the first caucus meeting of the party since President Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023.

Last year, meetings of National Caucus and National Executive Committee scheduled for September 11 and 12 in Abuja were postponed indefinitely.

On Monday, a founding member of the party and former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai had accused the party leadership of failing to convene a meeting, even as he said the party is losing its progressive ideals.

The caucus meeting which commenced around 7:30pm with the arrival of President Tinubu is still ongoing as at the time of filing this report.

Daily Trust gathered that some of the issues for discussion at the caucus meeting included the timetable and schedule of a non-elective convention in line with the party’s constitution; the review and deliberation on the report from the National Legal Adviser concerning ongoing litigations involving the party in several courts across the country; a presentation on the establishment of The Progressive Institute (TPI), a think thank for policy formulation for the party, among others.

In attendance were Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje.

Ganduje came into the meeting with other members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

APC governors at the meeting included Hope Uzodinma, Imo, Babajide Sanwoolu, Lagos, Dapo Abiodun, Ogun, Prof. Babagana Zulum, Borno, Senator Uba Sani, Kaduna, Ahmad Aliyu, Sokoto, Revd. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, Benue, Umar Bago, Niger.

Also present was the founding national chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, among other chieftains.
