A 25-year-old man, Balogun Mujaid, has been sentenced to three years’ imprisonment with hard labour for stealing a phone valued at N98,000 while on community service at a Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

The court also ordered him to pay N130,000 as restitution fee to the complainant.

Mujaid was also sentenced on two other cases for three years.

In another matter, Mujaid, who had pleaded guilty to all the charges preferred against him, was sentenced to one year and three months’ imprisonment without an option of fine on two other counts.

The Chief Magistrate, Dolamu Babalogbon, while giving his ruling said all terms are to run concurrently.

The prosecutor, Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that Mujaid on October 15, 2024 at about 8.30am at the open court of the Chief Magistrate 6, in Ado-Ekiti, stole an Itel A50 phone, property of one Mrs Oluwatuyi Olusola.

In another case, the prosecutor said he stole one standing fan valued at N25,000 and a home theatre valued at N45,000, totalling N70,000 from one Falola Sunday on January 24.
