The Sokoto State Government is exploring the possibility of offering automatic employment to indigenous medical students upon graduation.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu stated this during a meeting with the President of the National Post-Graduate Medical College of Nigeria, Professor Peter Ebeigbe, and his team on Monday in Sokoto.
Governor Aliyu reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring accessible, affordable and high-quality healthcare services in the state.
He highlighted recent achievements, including the recruitment of over 800 nurses and midwives within the past year.
He also said the state plans to renew its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital to enable consultants to provide specialised medical services.
Professor Ebeigbe commended the Sokoto State Government for its continued scholarship programmes for medical students and praised the administration for its significant investments in road and infrastructure projects.
