The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will commence on a yet-to-be-announced date in January.

JAMB, via a newsletter on Monday, said it has successfully generated a satisfactory pool of examination items, completed the accreditation of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres, and set January as the registration start date.

The board stated that it is expecting massive registrations this year and promised that all necessary plans to ensure a seamless registration and examination experience for candidates have been concluded.

JAMB also said it would conduct the most exceptional UTME in its history, having implemented comprehensive measures aimed at providing candidates and stakeholders with an unparalleled registration and examination experience.

It added that insights gained from the 2024 review had been integrated into the rigorous planning for the 2025 UTME, stressing that it has also established robust measures to prevent a recurrence of the few challenges faced in 2024.

In order to ensure an improved experience for candidates, JAMB advised early preparations, including the creation of profiles, saying “candidates are required to send a text message: NIN (space) followed by their 11-digit NIN number to 55019 to facilitate the process and avoid delays.”

“The application of henna on the fingers can lead to significant challenges during biometric verification, as it obstructs the process. Additionally, candidates who attempt to remove henna designs using harsh chemicals may inadvertently damage the whorls on their fingers, making biometric verification and authentication extremely difficult, if not impossible,” the board warned.

It advised candidates to protect all ten fingers during both the registration and examination processes as successful biometric verification is mandatory for entry into the examination hall, adding that without it, candidates will be unable to access the examination questions.
