The community leader of Unguwan Babangida in Kauru Emirate, Mallam Babangida Sogiji, and 11 others have been abducted in two separate attacks on Libere and Unguwan Babangida communities in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to Aminu Khalid, the youth leader of Dokan Karji community, four victims, identified as Pheobe Adauji, Cecilia Moses, Tambaya, and his wife, were abducted around noon on Thursday while harvesting crops on their farms.
“The attackers returned to Unguwan Babangida Friday morning and abducted six more residents, including the community leader,” Khalid stated.
He added that two of the abducted individuals were seasonal workers from Jigawa State who had come to the area for agricultural work.
“We are still waiting for the kidnappers to contact us for ransom or negotiations,” he said.
Khalid expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation, noting that the incidents have caused widespread panic in Libere and surrounding communities, forcing many residents to flee. “These bandits continue to occupy more villages in our local government unchallenged, wreaking havoc on various communities,” he added.
Efforts to reach the Kaduna State Police spokesman, Mansir Hassan, for comments were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls at the time of filing this report.
