Scorpio N Carbon Edition blacked out exterior

The Scorpio N Carbon Edition has been launched with prices starting from Rs 19.19 lakh. This new version will be exclusively sold with the Z8 and Z8L top models of the Mahindra off-roader, featuring an all-black treatment to the exterior and interior parts.

  1. Rs 20,000 premium over the standard Scorpio N variants
  2. Comes only in a seven-seat configuration
  3. Directly rivals with the Tata Harrier Dark Edition

Scorpio N Carbon Edition blacked out exterior

As we have previously reported, the Scorpio N with the Carbon Edition reduces the use of chrome around the body. For instance, the otherwise chrome door handles and window side moulding get a blacked-out finish; even the 18-inch alloy wheels and roof rails have a similar dark theme. Note that the Carbon Edition is offered in a single Stealth Black paint.

Inside, the same pitch-black philosophy is followed with the dashboard and leatherette seats (both are tanned in the standard Scropio N). Additionally, the roof liner and door trims have been blackened as part of this edition. You can buy this latest version just with seven seats and the feature list here is identical - 8-inch touchscreen, sunroof, multiple drive modes, dual-zone AC, 12 speakers and six airbags.

Same 2-litre petrol, 2.2-litre diesel powertrains

The familiar pair of a 203hp, 2-litre turbo petrol and a 175hp, 2.2-litre diesel mated to either a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox is continued in the new Scorpio N Carbon Edition. However, four-wheel drive (4WD) can be had with the diesel powertrain solely.

Rs 19.19-28.89 lakh price bracket, Harrier Dark direct rival

The Rs 20,000 premium for the Scorpio N Carbon Edition is standard for all Z8 and Z8L variants, priced from Rs 19.19 lakh to Rs 24.89 lakh. These include petrol and diesel engines with either manual or automatic transmissions. The latest prices also validate Autocar India’s estimates made in our report from last week.

Compared to the Tata Harrier, which has a Dark Edition from the mid-spec Pure + S for Rs 19.14 lakh and goes up to Rs 26.24 lakh for the range-topping Fearless +, Mahindra’s Carbon Edition SUV is aggressively priced at both ends and offers 4WD as well. Further, the Harrier’s recently launched Stealth Edition is sold only in the Fearless + trim and costs Rs 25,000 more than its Dark equivalent.
