Kia has revealed its EV4 in a new hatchback avatar alongside a sedan. The Korean automaker will further disclose key specifications of the EV4 at the Kia EV Day on February 27. Upon launch, the Kia EV4 will rival the Volkswagen ID 3 and Hyundai Kona electric overseas. The Kia EV2 concept and PV5 electric van to also be unveiled next week.
Kia EV4 GT Line hatchback
The EV4 hatchback seen for the first time has a similar silhouette to the Kia EV6. Along with vertically stacked LED headlights and a sharp-looking face, it also gets thick black cladding on the sides and a sunroof. The major differences lie towards the boot, comprising a huge black spoiler and new tail lights.
Kia EV4 GT Line sedan
The design of the production version doesn’t differ much from its EV4 concept first showcased in 2023. For instance, the sharply angled nose and sloping roofline behind are retained. Even its prominent shoulder lines look familiar. Exterior changes are marked by a fresh grille with radar, new 19-inch alloy wheels, chunkier ORVMs and flush-type door handles. It may stretch the tape beyond the Kia Seltos (4,365mm length).
There is a Kia EV4 GT-Line variant too, featuring wing-shaped front and rear bumpers, and triangular-motif 19-inch wheels for a sportier look.
Specifications for the upcoming electric vehicle are not out yet but it will be underpinned by the E-GMP architecture like the Kia EV9, EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5. That being said, the EV4 could debut with 58.3kWh and 81.4kWh battery options, supporting front- or all-wheel drive (AWD). As the Kia EV4 will likely borrow its battery options from the EV3.
In 2023, Kia India filed trademarks for eight new electric vehicles, of which the EV6 and EV9 are on sale here. These also included the Kia EV4, apart from the EV3 and EV5 currently sold in foreign markets. While Kia has not spoken on its launch, the EV4 will sit under the EV6 SUV if brought to the country.
