JSW MG Motor India has showcased the new Majestor SUV at the Auto Expo 2025. It is essentially a facelift of the Gloster, but the Majestor will be positioned above it, and both models will be kept on sale simultaneously. MG hasn’t shared exact launch details yet, but the refreshed full-size, three-row, ladder frame SUV gets a complete overhaul inside out over the Gloster.
The Majestor sports a design that is similar to the Maxus D90 SUV on sale in select markets overseas like South Africa. The nose gets a large, blacked-out grille with horizontal slats, and a bigger-than-usual MG logo. The grille is flanked by a split headlight setup, with slim LED daytime running lights above and vertically placed headlights below. A rugged silver bash plate, along with black cladding that stretches length-wise from end-to-end, add to the Majestor’s muscular look.
It gets a diamond-cut, 5-spoke, 19-inch alloys and a chrome-finished running board, along with a blacked-out bits on the top-half, door handles and wing mirrors. The Majestor gets wraparound connected tail-lights, but the rear bumper design with its dual exhaust pipes and chunky skid plate are quite similar to the Gloster.
The model showcased at the event had tinted windows, so we didn't get a look at the Majestor's interior. However, spy shots of the Majestor on test in India revealed that there’s a free-standing 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, an all-digital instrument cluster with customisable interfaces and an all-black theme for the cabin. The Gloster itself gets features like a panoramic sunroof, heated, cooled and massaging driver’s seat with power adjust, a heated passenger seat, three-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, a 12-speaker audio system, and an electric tailgate. So it's safe to assume that the Majestor will be better equipped.
The safety suite could include Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree cameras, auto headlamps and wipers, tyre pressure monitoring and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.
The Majestor is likely to share the 2.0-litre four-cylinder twin-turbo diesel engine available on higher variants of the Gloster, which makes 216hp and 479Nm. The unit is paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels. A 4x4 option will also be on offer.
Considering the MG Gloster is currently priced between Rs 39.57 lakh and Rs 44.03 lakh, expect the Majestor's price to range around the Rs 40 lakh-45 lakh mark. Like the Gloster, the Majestor will compete against the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq and the Nissan X-Trail.
