Skoda Kylaq front crash test Bharat NCAP

The Skoda Kylaq has achived a 5-star rating in both adult and child occupant protection in Bharat New Car Assessment Program’s (BNCAP) safety tests. The Kylaq scored 30.88 out of 32 in adult occupant protection (AOP) and 45 out of 49 for child occupant protection (COP). The crash test scores awarded make the Kylaq the best performing ICE-powered sub-four-metre SUV in BNCAP's crash tests conducted thus far.

BNCAP tested the top-spec Kylaq Prestige variant equipped with a manual gearbox, but the ratings are applicable for the entire Skoda Kylaq variant line-up that also includes the Classic, Signature and Signature+ variants. Other than the entry-level Classic, all other trims get an automatic transmission option.

Skoda Kylaq adult occupant protection ratings

The Skoda Kylaq scored 30.88 points out of 32 in adult occupant protection (AOP). The report also stated that the protection offered to the driver’s head, neck and right leg region was good, but in the frontal offset barrier test, it was rated adequate for the driver's chest area. For the front passenger, protection was good for the head, neck, chest area and legs. The Kylaq scored 15.04 out of 16.00 points in this test, while in the side deformable barrier tests, it secured 15.84 out of 16.00 points, showing good protection to head and lower back area, while managing an adequate rating for the upper back. It also got a “good” rating in the side pole impact tests.

Skoda Kylaq child occupant protection ratings

In terms of child occupant protection, the Kylaq secured 45 out of 49 points. It got full marks in the dynamic test (24/24) and CRS installation test (12/12), and scored 9 out of 13 in the vehicle assessment test. Both the 18-month-old and the 3-year-old child dummies were tested in rearward-facing child seats 

Skoda Kylaq safety feature highlights

As standard, the Skoda Kylaq comes equipped with six airbags, three-point seatbelts with reminders for all passengers, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and ISOFIX anchors for rear outboard seats. It also complies with AIS-100 pedestrian protection norms. Unlike higher variants of the Mahindra XUV 3XO, the Kylaq does not come with ADAS tech in any trim.
