Aprilia will soon be launching the Tuono 457 in India, with the company having sent us an invite for the middle of February to try out an all-new product. The Tuono 457 was first shown at last year’s EICMA, a little over a year after the RS 457 first broke onto the scene.
In typical Tuono fashion, the 457 is a stripped down version of the supersport with unchanged fascia and headlight design albeit with a more relaxed rider’s triangle. The Aprilia Tuono 457 is quite different in the way it looks, compared to its faired sibling and also has different styling compared to other larger capacity Tuonos.
Another notable difference is the slightly reduced fuel capacity: 12.7 liters on the Tuono versus 13 liters on the RS 457. However, both motorcycles have the same kerb weight, at 175 kg.
The engine remains unchanged, with the 457cc parallel-twin producing 47.6hp and 43.5Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox along with a slip-assisted clutch. A bi-directional quickshifter will be available as an optional accessory.
The Tuono 457 will carry over the RS 457’s electronic suite, including a 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity and three riding modes that adjust ABS, traction control and throttle sensitivity. There will be two colours on offer - red and grey.
Expected to launch sometime next month, the Aprilia Tuono 457 will rival the KTM 390 Duke and the Yamaha MT-03. While the RS 457 is priced at Rs 4.20 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the Tuono is likely to be positioned below it, somewhere around the Rs 4 lakh mark or perhaps even slightly below it.
