Yamaha was the first brand that introduced hybrid tech to the Indian commuter class with its Fascino and Ray ZR scooters. Now, it seems that technology will also be implemented on the FZ-X 150cc commuter. Alongside, the FZ-S will also be updated with new colours. Both these bikes are likely to be launched at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025.
The hybrid tech on the updated Yamaha FZ-X will be courtesy of an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG), which will provide a small electric boost to bump up the maximum output of the bike. As a result of this system, two other features that will be bundled into the FZ-X will be start/stop tech and a silent start. The FZ-X’s air-cooled, 149cc, single-cylinder engine makes 12.4hp and 13.3Nm, so expect a small increment on the updated model.
The other change will be the presence of a colour TFT display, which will bring in things like call/notification alerts and music playback control. The TFT will be complemented by new switchgear to control the additional functions. This is likely to be the same unit that’s seen on the latest R15 models. Both these features are likely to be reserved for the top DLX variant.
Currently, the FZ-X is priced between Rs 1.37 lakh - Rs 1.41 lakh and when the updated bike launches (which is likely to be at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo next week), you can expect a bump in price.
While the FZ-X will see some updates, it appears that the FZ-S is going to soldier on pretty much unchanged. The only change is going to be the addition of some new colourways. One new colour that can be made out is a new grey/cyan option, which is also seen on the MT-15 and MT-03.
