The Honda Elevate black edition will launch on January 7, Autocar India can confirm.  The SUV was spied recently in production ready form hinting at an imminent launch.  Honda will introduce the Elevate Black edition in two variants - The Elevate Black Edition and the Elevate Signature black edition.

Honda Elevate Black edition details revealed

The Honda Elevate Black Edition gets Crystal Black pearl exterior paint with gloss black painted alloy wheels, all-black interior with Leatherette seats, chrome finish on upper grille and silver finish on roof rails. It will also get silver finish on lower part of doors.

The Elevate Signature Black Edition gets similar setup for the exterior, interior and alloy wheels. Additionally, there’s a black painted upper grille, black finish on roof rails, black finish on front and rear faux skid plates, black finish on lower part of doors, additional logo on the front fender and 7 colour interior ambient lighting.

The Elevate Black and the Elevate Signature Black editions will be based on the top variant which means it will be fully loaded as far as features go.  Key equipment will include a single pane sunroof and ADAS among others.

There are no mechanical changes expected, so it will continue with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol good, mated to either a manual or a CVT automatic gearbox.

Honda Elevate Black Edition has few direct rivals

While the Elevate Black edition gets only cosmetic tweaks,  Honda has the advantage of having only two “direct” rivals in the segment that includes the Creta Knight edition and the Astor Blackstorm as most other black edition SUVs sold in India are either from segments below or above the Elevate.

The story dramatically changes for the Honda Elevate if we keep the Black Edition aside as the standard SUV faces stiff competition from the likes of the Creta, Seltos, Grand Vitara, Hyryder, Kushaq and the Taigun with Creta being the segment leader with monthly sales averaging around a staggering 15,000 units.

Dealer sources tell us that the Elevate Black Edition was slated to go on sale in March this year however launch was pulled forward in order to push sales for Honda’s mid-size SUV which have been below expectations.  Last year, Honda had introduced the Elevate Apex edition which has been getting decent traction according to dealers. Honda will continue to sell the Elevate Apex Edition alongside the newly launched Elevate Black edition range and the standard Elevate line-up.

Prices for the Elevate start at Rs 11.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) going upto Rs 15.41 lakh.  Expect Elevate Black Edition to be priced at around Rs 75,000 more than the standard line-up.
