Kia Syros variants

Kia has debuted the Syros and announced that bookings for the new compact SUV will begin on January 3, followed by a launch in February. When it goes on sale, Kia’s new premium compact SUV will be available with two engine options – each with manual and automatic gearbox options – and six trims. Here, we find out just how well-equipped each of the six Syros trims are, which colours are on offer and which powertrain option they come with.

All variants of the Syros get eight monotone colour options, including a new one for Kia called Frost Blue. The other seven exterior finishes – namely Glacier White Pearl, Sparkling Silver, Intense Red, Imperial Blue, Pewter Olive, Gravity Grey and Aurora Black Pearl – can be seen on either the Sonet or the Seltos.

Kia Syros engine and gearbox

Today’s unveiling confirmed our previous report of the Kia Syros being powered by familiar turbocharged engines – a 120hp, 172Nm, 1.0-litre petrol and 116hp, 250Nm, 1.5-litre diesel. As for gearbox options, a 6-speed manual is standard on both. However, the petrol has a 7-speed dual-clutch auto option from the lower-spec HTK+ trim, while the diesel has a 6-speed torque convertor automatic option from the higher-spec HTX+ trim.
