New Maruti Dzire front spied

The all-new Maruti Dzire has been spotted without any camouflage, giving us nearly every detail regarding the upcoming compact sedan’s exterior. The images confirm what spy shots of the camouflaged model had hinted at – the new Dzire’s exterior design is well differentiated from the recently launched Swift.

  1. New Maruti Dzire gets horizontally-slatted grille, slim headlights
  2. New alloys, wraparound LED tail-lights seen
  3. Barring sunroof, features list expected to be shared with the Swift

Unlike its predecessors, the newest Dzire will have more design differences to mark it out from the Swift, with which it shares its Heartect platform. Maruti’s compact sedan will feature an Audi-esque nose, with a blacked-out horizontally-slatted grille, slim headlights and a slightly sportier-looking front bumper.

The new designs for the similar-sized alloy wheels will further differentiate the hatchback from the Dzire, as will the new large wraparound LED tail-lights, and naturally, the boot that seems to be at least as large as its predecessor, but with more angular creases.

Another major difference is the presence of a sunroof. However, the new Dzire’s interior will share a lot with the Swift, though the compact sedan’s cabin is expected to be finished in lighter colours to make the cabin feel airier. The features list on top-spec variants is expected to include a 9-inch free-standing touchscreen, a climate control system, and an analogue instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch digital MID.

The New Dzire will use the Swift’s 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z Series petrol engine. In the hatchback, the Z12E unit makes 82hp and 112Nm of torque on petrol, and 69.75hp and 101.8Nm when run on CNG. Petrol variants will get 5-speed manual and AMT options, while CNG versions will only have the former.

It is likely that prices for the Dzire CNG will be announced after the petrol model, which is expected to arrive at Maruti Arena showrooms around Diwali, and cost a premium over the outgoing model (Rs 6.57 lakh-9.34 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi). More details on the Hyundai Aura, Honda Amaze and Tata Tigor rival will be revealed shortly, so stay tuned.
