Udupi: The Karnataka Sports Meet witnessed a series of thrilling athletic events on Tuesday at the Ajjarkad District Sports Ground. In a remarkable display of talent, women from the undivided Dakshina Kannada district dominated most of the competitions, clinching numerous medals.

In the women’s long jump, Udupi’s Pavithra G. leaped an impressive 5.56 meters to secure the gold medal. Dakshina Kannada’s Aishwarya Patil closely followed with a jump of 5.55 meters, earning the silver, while Udupi’s Sridevika V.S. bagged the bronze with a leap of 5.45 meters.

The javelin throw event saw Udupi’s Shravya throw an exceptional 40.62 meters to claim the gold medal. Dakshina Kannada’s Jeevitha D. achieved a silver medal with a throw of 39.67 meters, and Sinchana earned the bronze with a throw of 37.57 meters.

In the 200-meter race, Udupi’s Jyothika completed the sprint in 24.72 seconds to secure the gold medal. Stuthi Shetty earned the silver with a time of 25.02 seconds, while Mysuru’s Mamatha M. took home the bronze, clocking 25.50 seconds.

In the women’s 800-meter race, Bengaluru’s Vijayakumari G.K. clocked a time of 2:14.02 to win the gold medal. Dakshina Kannada’s Deepshree followed with a time of 2:14.59 to secure the silver medal, and Rekha Basappa Piroji claimed the bronze, finishing in 2:15.62.

Bengaluru’s Isha Elizabeth Ranjit emerged victorious in the women’s 100-meter hurdles, completing the race in 14.58 seconds to win the gold medal. Dakshina Kannada’s Deekshita Ramakrishna earned the silver with a time of 14.71 seconds, and Udupi’s Rakshitha secured the bronze with a time of 14.72 seconds.

In the women’s shot put event, Mysuru’s Ambika V. delivered a throw of 14.53 meters to clinch the gold medal. Brinda S. secured the silver with a throw of 12.52 meters, while Udupi’s Madhurya earned the bronze with a throw of 10.74 meters.

The men’s events featured competitions in sprints, hurdles, discus throw, long jump, and pole vault, while the women’s events included sprints, hurdles, long jump, shot put, and javelin throw.

In the men’s 10,000-meter race, Belagavi’s Vijay Savaratkar clocked an impressive 32 minutes and 23 seconds to secure the gold medal. Bengaluru’s Guruprasad and Sandeep T.S. followed closely, finishing in 32:24 and 32:32 minutes, earning silver and bronze medals, respectively.

The discus throw saw Mysuru’s Mohammad Saklain clinch the gold with a throw of 52.36 meters. U.K. Nagendra A. Nayak earned the silver with a throw of 52.02 meters, while Mysuru’s Mohit N. Raj secured the bronze with a throw of 48.95 meters.

In the long jump, Belagavi’s Zafar Khan achieved a remarkable 7.44 meters to claim the gold medal. Udupi’s Anush T.R. won the silver with a jump of 7.30 meters, while Bengaluru’s Sushant G. Suvarna earned the bronze with a jump of 7.07 meters.

Bengaluru’s Kamal Kannan S. emerged victorious in the men’s 800-meter race, clocking 1:52.92 to secure the gold medal. Ramanagara’s Lokesh K. won the silver medal with a time of 1:53.94, and Bengaluru’s Vinayak Angadi claimed the bronze, finishing in 1:55.

In the pole vault, Mysuru’s Rahul Ashok Naik soared to a height of 4.20 meters to win the gold medal. Bengaluru’s Aditya V.M. claimed the silver with a height of 4.10 meters, while Yadgir’s Lokesh Rathod earned the bronze with a vault of 4 meters.

In the 200-meter race, Mysuru’s Guruprasad clinched the gold medal with a time of 21.43 seconds. Bengaluru’s Prasanna Kumar followed with a silver medal finish in 21.60 seconds, while Udupi’s Dhanush D. secured the bronze with a time of 21.91 seconds.

Yadgir’s Lokesh Rathod Damu dominated the men’s 110-meter hurdles, completing the race in 15.03 seconds to secure the gold medal. Dakshina Kannada’s Tajal K.R. followed with a silver medal finish in 15.13 seconds, while Bengaluru’s Santosh Kumar earned the bronze with a time of 15.97 seconds.
