Udupi witnessed an electrifying cycling competition on Sunday as part of the Karnataka Sports Meet. The event kept spectators on the edge of their seats with nail-biting performances, and Vijayapura’s team emerged as the standout, winning most of the accolades.

The race commenced near the Kolalagiri Water Tank in Brahmavar Taluk and followed a challenging route that passed through Perduru, Kukkkehalli Junction, and concluded at Shantivana Junction. Cyclists navigated through various stretches, including Perdoor, Havanje, Kolalagiri Ammunje, Petri, Uggelbetttu, Nandini, and the KMF area. To ensure a smooth event, regular vehicular traffic was temporarily halted along these roads and diverted to alternate routes.

In the men’s 40 km team category, the Vijayapura team clinched first place by completing the race in an impressive 58 minutes and 46 seconds. Bagalkote’s team followed, finishing in 1 hour and 21 minutes, while the Mysuru team secured third place with a time of 1 hour and 41 minutes.

The women’s 20 km team category also saw Vijayapura shine as they finished first with a time of 37 minutes and 3 seconds. Belagavi claimed the second position, clocking 39 minutes and 41 seconds, while Mysuru earned third place with a time of 42 minutes and 19 seconds.

The men’s 50 km individual category had an intense finish, with Bagalkote’s Aruna Lamani emerging victorious. Mysuru’s Charith Gowda secured the second spot, while Bengaluru’s Nile D’Souza finished third.

In the women’s 30 km individual category, Vijayapura continued its winning streak with Payal Chavan securing first place. Bagalkote’s Danamma Gaurav came second, followed by Mysuru’s Gleonna D’Souza in third place.
