Bengaluru: Renowned Kannada actress and former minister Umashree is all set to make her debut in the world of Yakshagana. She will portray the challenging role of Mantara, marking her entry into the traditional Yakshagana stage.

Umashree will don the role of Mantara during the Yakshagana performance of Sri Rama Pattabhisheka, organized by the Perduru Sri Anantapadmanabha Yakshagana Mandali. The event will take place at St. Anthony’s Ground in Honnavar on January 17. The program has been arranged by Appi Hegde Sanmane, who reportedly contacted Umashree a month ago to discuss her participation.

Confirming her involvement, Umashree revealed that she has been practicing in full Yakshagana attire since January 12 and 13 to prepare for her role. She traveled to Honnavar on Thursday night from Bengaluru to gear up for her performance.

Fans and Yakshagana enthusiasts eagerly await this unique fusion of cinema and traditional theater, as Umashree takes on the iconic role of Mantara.
