Udupi: With the year-end holidays and New Year celebrations leading to increased traffic congestion, the Udupi police have implemented temporary traffic diversions on major city roads.

These changes will be in effect from 4 p.m. on December 28 until 9 p.m. on January 1. The police have urged the public to cooperate by adhering to the revised routes.

Route Changes

  1. For Light Goods Vehicles
    Vehicles coming from Manipal and heading towards Mangaluru or Kaup must take the route via Sharada Kalyana Mantapa.
  2. Kalsanka Circle
    • Vehicles from Gundibail must turn near Kadiyali and proceed towards Krishna Matha and Udupi.
    • Vehicles coming from Manipal and heading towards Gundibail must take a U-turn near the city bus stand.
  3. Karavali Junction
    • Vehicles from Malpe must take a left at Karavali Junction, use the service road, and take a U-turn near Nittur (in front of Abharana Motors) to head towards the city.
    • Vehicles coming from Mangaluru, except those heading to Malpe, must take a U-turn near Nittur (Abharana Motors) to proceed towards Udupi.
  4. Malpe
    Vehicles from Malpe Beach must take the route via Balarama Circle, passing through Hoode and Nejaru to reach Santhekatte and join the National Highway.

The police have requested all motorists to follow these temporary diversions to ensure smooth traffic flow during the holiday period.
