Chikkamagaluru: Following the interrogation of two suspected Maoist sympathisers, the Anti-Naxal Force and local police have launched a search operation in the region.

Sources said, three guns were found at a house in Kadegundi village, Koppa taluk, reportedly visited by Maoist groups. A case has been registered at the Jayapura Police Station. Western Range IGP Amit Singh and CID ADGP Pranab Mohanty visited the site to oversee the investigation.

Suspicions of Maoist meetings in Koppa and Sringeri taluks have put the district police and the Anti-Naxal Force on high alert. The two suspected Maoist sympathizers are reportedly undergoing intense questioning. In Naxal-affected areas, a combing operation is being carried out, and security checks have been intensified with barricades at checkpoints.

Based on intelligence suggesting Maoist movements, combing operations are underway across several locations in Sringeri and Koppa taluks under the supervision of Anti-Naxal Force SP Jitendra Kumar Dayama. Western Range IGP and District SP Vikram Amathe are stationed in Sringeri to monitor the situation, and Anti-Naxal Force personnel have been deployed across various locations for extensive searches, heightening Maoist-related concerns in the Malnad region.
