New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has spent some of his time in India playing street cricket with underprivileged children. Luxon was joined by New Zealand cricketers Ross Taylor and Ajaz Patel and former Indian legend Kapil Dev. In a post shared on Luxon's official social media handle, the NZ PM could be seen batting, and then fielding in the slip cordon as Taylor took strike. The photo was captioned' Nothing unites New Zealand and India more than our shared love of cricket."

Luxon Stumps PM Modi with 'Diplomatic Incident' Jibe
The meeting between Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi and New Zealand's PM Christopher Luxon also witnessed a light moment where Luxon recalled the India vs New Zealand Champions Trophy 2025 final.
PM Luxon while recalling his country's narrow defeat joked that he was grateful that Modi did not bring up the topic during their discussions.
During an interaction with media Luxon said, "I really appreciate that PM Modi didn't bring up New Zealand's Champions Trophy loss to India, and I didn't mention our Test victories in India. Let's keep it that way and avoid a diplomatic incident,"
PM Luxon also hailed India for winning the Champions Trophy and called the Men in Blue as the most dominant side in the world. In the 2025 Champions trophy, the two teams played each other twice and India won both matches under Rohit Sharma's captaincy. He added, "During PM Modi's tenure, the men in blue (Indian cricket team) have been the most dominant side in cricket, most recently winning the Champions Trophy in Dubai against my men in black (New Zealand cricket team). They broke many many New Zealanders' hearts in the process, including mine. I will be the bigger person and just say congratulations,"
