Pune: A tempo traveller carrying company employees caught fire in the early hours of the day, and four people lost their lives to the fire. The incident took place in Pune's Hinjewadi area. Investigation is ongoing.

As per the police officials, the tempo traveller was ferrying multiple staff members of a private firm to their jobs in the early morning when the event occurred. As they neared Dassault Systemes at Rajiv Gandhi InfoTech Park Phase 1, the vehicle burst into flames when it decelerated.

A few employees managed to flee, but four were trapped in the fire and perished; two others sustained injuries, including the bus driver, who is critically injured.

Sources report that there were 12 staff members on board the tempo traveller bus when the fire broke out. Chaos broke out when the doors got stuck, making it hard to open them and escape. A few managed to flee, while four were trapped and succumbed to horrifying deaths in the flames as the jammed doors trapped them inside.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishal Gaikwad from Hinjewadi stated, "Although some employees were able to escape, four of their coworkers were unable to get out and perished." “The process of extracting the bodies from the vehicle is in progress,” he further stated.
