Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Rewa and its adjoining areas remained tense on Tuesday when various religious and social organisations tried to enforce bandh in Rewa, Satna and Maihar.

The bandh called by these organisations evoked a mixed response in Satna and Maihar. These organisations called for bandh in protest against the murder of a youth and an assistant sub-inspector of police in Garhwa village, Mauganj, on March 15.

According to reports, a group of tribal individuals allegedly abducted and killed Sunny Dwivedi, a local youth, and later attacked a police team that attempted to rescue him. During the confrontation, ASI Ramcharan Gautam lost his life.

Protesters staged a sit-in near Shilpi Plaza in Satna and attempted to halt vehicular movement. They also entered markets, urging shopkeepers to shut their businesses as a mark of protest. In response to the unrest, the district administration deployed additional police personnel across the city to maintain law and order.
