Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): An elderly woman was worshipping near a temple built in the garden at Raj Royal Colony of Chimanganj Mandi police station area. Meanwhile, a youth from a minority community came there and first made a video of the woman worshipping and then allegedly threatened her.
The youth allegedly stopped her from worshipping in the garden and threatened her not to build a temple. The frightened woman called local residents, after which the latter lodged an FIR against the accused youth.
Ravindra Hada, president of Raj Royal Colony Residents’ Committee, said that there are already temples of various deities in the garden of the colony. On Monday evening around 5:30, an elderly woman named Kala Vishwakarma was worshipping under a Belpatra tree as usual.
Meanwhile, a youth named Sariq Qureshi came and began making a video of the woman. He told the woman not to build a temple here now and stopped her from worshipping. Scared by this, the woman called local residents Mamta Trivedi, Pankaj Namdev, Arvinder Singh Hada and Ravindra Hada. Seeing people coming, Sariq fled from there.
After this, the residents lodged a case against accused Sariq Qureshi in the police station under Sections 299 and 353 (2) of BNS. There are 15 Hindu families and about 80 Muslim families in the colony.
