Tanay Khandeshi’s brilliant all-round performance, taking two wickets for 30 runs and scoring an unbeaten 36 runs was the highlight of Union Bank of India’s fluent six-wicket victory against Automotive CC in a quarter-final match of the 14th Insurance Shield T20 cricket tournament, organised by Oriental Insurance Company at Cross Maidan on Tuesday.
Union Bank did well to restrict Automotive CC to a low total of 136 for 7 wickets from their quota of 20 overs. Chirag Vakil, Rupesh Singh and Nikhil Mandle all scored 22 runs each to lift the Automotive CC innings. Khandeshi’s teammate Deep Gaurav also claimed two wickets for 32 runs.
In reply, Union Bank comfortably chased down the target scoring 138 for the loss of just four wickets in 18.4 overs. Besides Khandeshi’s unbeaten knock the others who made good contributions with the bat was Roop Yadav 31 runs, Adil Shaikh 28 runs and Faizan Rabbani’s unbeaten 27 runs which saw coast to victory.
In the second match, Group Satellite CC defeated L&T Sports Club by a commanding 76 runs. Group Satellite’s opening bat Abhijeet Rohandiya top-scored with an unbeaten 91 runs and Faizan Khan added 71 runs to the team’s total of 198 for our wickets from their 20 overs.
L&T Sports Club struggled to score runs and their innings closed at 122 for six wickets. Akash Palande and Ameya Tiwramkar both scored 31 runs each.

Result: Union Bank of India won by 6 wickets.
Group Satellite CC 198 for 4, 20 overs (Abhijeet Rohandiya 91*, Faizan Khan 71; Rahul Joshi 3/14) beat L&T Sports Club 122 for 6, 20 overs (Akash Palande 31, Ameya Tiwramkar 31; Alok Singh 2/26). Result: Group Satellite CC won by 76 runs.
