A foreign man recorded his experience of travelling on the world's first water metro in Kochi, Kerala, during his visit to India. Identified as Hugh, the travel enthusiast captured glimpses from his ride on camera, from purchasing the ticket to alighting the transport after a "perfect" trip.

The video opened showing Hugh, a native of Scotland, walking into the Fort Kochi metro station and requesting for a ticket at the counter. "Here we go water metro. Ticket over here", he said while entering the station and purchasing a ticket for High Court metro station.

"High Court return please", he said to the female ticketing official. He produced a change of Rs. 40 and collected his ticket from her. However, hilariously, he said, "Thank you sir", while accepting the ticket and heading towards the metro ride. After saying "sir" to the woman, he realised and said to himself, "Oh, I just said thank you sir. Whoops!".

Next, the video showed him scanning his water metro ticket at the barricade scanner. A woman volunteered to help Hugh in digitally checking in. "Alright, here we go", he said excitedly.

Metro? Hugh calls it a "boat" instead

As he saw the water metro had arrived, he continued filming. Instead of referring to it as a "metro", he described it as a "Very modern boat".

He entered the transport and captured visuals from within. He showed viewers how the ride was equipped with enough seats, charging sockets, and had a "icy cold" temperature inside. He took a 20-minute ride from Fort Kochi to High Court. During the "picturesque" ride, he saw lovely hotels on the seaside and somewhat greenery on the shore.

10/10 rating

Once done, he reviewed his water metro trip by terming it as "Fantastic". He gave it a 10/10 rating. "Look how modern that is. Bang on time. Very very clean, literally spotless. AC was perfect", he explained.

Hugh's video also featured the Fort Kochi metro station with toilets, drinking water machine, waiting area, and large multilingual banners. The space had a few security guards onboard.

The foreigner posted the travel video on Instagram on March 16. It clip has already gone viral and gathered more than three million views.
