Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 24-year-old car driver was booked for hitting a Sub-Inspector (SI) and misbehaving with police officials during a drunk-driving check at Musakhedi Square under Azad Nagar police station late Sunday night.

Azad Nagar police station in-charge Vijay Singh Sisodiya said that ASI Mahesh Prasad Tiwari lodged a complaint, stating that he and a team including SI Shyamlal Tanwar, ASI DP Tiwari, ASI Dinesh Bachhaniya, and other staff were conducting drunk-driving checks at Musakhedi Square on Sunday night.

Around 12:45 am, the driver of a car (MP09 ZV 7997), identified as Ishan Agrawal (24), a resident of Sanghiya Colony, AB Road, Palasia, refused to stop at the check-point. Instead, he hit SI Shyamlal Tanwar's leg with his vehicle and knocked ASI DP Tiwari to the ground.

Even after police managed to stop the car, Ishan locked himself inside for 30 minutes, obstructing the check-point operation. When officers tried to issue a challan (fine), he confronted the cops, misbehaved and tried to block legal proceedings.

A case was registered against him under Sections 132 and 221 of BNS for obstructing government work, injuring police personnel and creating a public nuisance. The accused has been detained.
