Holi is not just a festival of colors but a celebration of togetherness, love, and—most importantly—delicious food that brings people closer. While many children head home to their families for the festivities, some stay in hostels. But this Holi, a kind-hearted chef brought the feeling homemade food to the hostels, changing the usual thought of hostel food being boring.
Hostel food on Holi
Identified as 'Gayu', the woman shared a video on her Instagram page 'Gayu's kitchen' to show netizens what she prepared for Holi 2025.
In the video, she was seen giving viewers a sneak peek into the food preparation during Holi. She took efforts to make the festival special for these children at the hostel by offering them a wide range of delicacies—fluffy puris in hues of pink and green, highlighting the playful and colourful vibe of the festival. Alongside them, the kitchen had aloo jhol, tomato rice, and a creamy boondi raita, its tiny pearls of fried gram flour floating in the cool yogurt, offering foodies both a visual and culinary delight.

"Some kids leave to celebrate with their families, but many stay back. They, too, deserve to feel the joy of Holi through good, special food,” she expressed while giving viewers a tour of her hostel kitchen.
Swiggy enters the kitchen
Before conclusion, two Swiggy delivery partners stepped in with a surprise. They arrived at the kitchen, carrying trays loaded with festive delights. They gifted a variety of crispy pakoras—aloo, palak, and paneer, along with the Holi special gujiyas, the signature sweet of this festival.
The video is now going viral on social media. It has already received nearly one lakh likes on Instagram.
While chef Gayu didn't reveal the location of the hostel, she said it was part of an NGO dedicated to girls and women.
