"Art is universal and cannot be confined to a single framework. It keeps individuals socially engaged and inspires them to lead a happy, prosperous and fulfilling life. Therefore, students should acquire proficiency in at least one form of art alongside their traditional education. The film industry today has reached business figures of ₹200-₹500 crore. This is a golden era for the entertainment industry, offering immense career opportunities for artists. Hence, the youth should consider pursuing careers in this field," opined renowned filmmaker Dr Jabbar Patel.
He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the seventh edition of 'Persona Fest-25,' the largest techno-cultural festival of 2025, organised by MIT Art, Design and Technology University. The event was graced by the presence of dignitaries such as former Chancellor of Kanchi University, Dr N Jayashankaran, Ushatai Vishwanath Karad, MIT ADT University’s Executive President Prof Dr Mangesh Karad, Executive Director Prof Dr Sunita Karad, University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Rajesh S, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr Ramchandra Pujeri, Dr Mohit Dubey, Registrar Dr Mahesh Chopde, event coordinator Prof Dr Sudarshan Sanap, Dr Vipul Dalal, Dr Renu Vyas, Dr Suraj Bhoyar, among others.
Dr Jayashankaran emphasised the role of art in students' holistic development, underlining the importance of spirituality and philosophy in fostering creativity. He noted that festivals like 'Persona' align with the New Education Policy (NEP) by encouraging creativity and innovation.
Prof Dr Karad underscored the significance of nurturing hobbies alongside academics. He stressed that education should not be limited to academics but should also promote artistic talents such as music, painting, and poetry.
The event began with a World Peace Prayer and concluded with a rendition of Pasayadan. The welcome address was delivered by Vice-Chancellor Dr Rajesh S, while the vote of thanks was presented by Dr Ashwini Pethe from the School of Architecture.
