The Delhi High Court on Wednesday ordered Google and other social media platforms to take down journalist and YouTuber Shyam Meera Singh's recent video on Isha Foundation and its founder Jaggi Vasudev, known as Sadhguru.
A single-judge bench of Justice Subramonium Prasad passed the interim order while hearing a suit moved by Isha Foundation.
According to Bar and Bench, the court also ordered Singh not to publish or share the video any further and also banned the public from uploading the video on any social media platform.
"Defendant 4 [Shyam Meera Singh] and subscribers of the channel of defendant no. 4 are restrained from creating, publishing, uploading, or disseminating defamatory videos...," the HC order read. The court listed the case for hearing on May 9.
Shyam Meera Singh recently uploaded a video highlighting alleged controversial practices at Isha Foundation.
Isha Foundation's counsel submitted before the court that Shyam Meera Singh on February 19 wrote an email to them saying he is a YouTube journalist and he intends to make a video regarding Sadhguru allegedly asking minor girls to take off their upper clothes.
Shyam reportedly asked some questions regarding the allegations in the email.
According to Bar and Bench, the counsel for Isha Foundation told the court, "Singh has previously done something similar on a renowned person. The idea is to pick a famous person and create a sensational video."
