Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Leader of Opposition (LOP) Umang Singhar slammed the budget presented by Finance Minister Jagdish Devda, calling it a "karz wala budget" (debt-driven budget).

Speaking to the media after the conclusion of the Day-3 of the budget session on Wednesday , Singhar said, "Ye karz le kar budget bana hai. Karz se kisi ka vikas nahi hota. Sarkar ne janta par karz chadha diya hai...Aj har insaan par 50,000 ka karz hai." (This budget is built on loans with no real policies for young people. The government is making the public of state debt-ridden; every person has alteast Rs 50,000 debt).

He questioned, “Aap kis tarah se kisaan ko majboot banaoge, jab aap samay par unko karz tak nahi de pa rahe?” (“How will you strengthen farmers when you can’t even provide them loans on time?”) He added that “yuvaon ko naukriyan nahi mil rahi, iska matlab hai ki pradesh karz me dooba hai” (young people are not getting jobs, proving that the state is drowning in debt).

Targeting the government’s financial management, he said, “Prati vyakti ₹50,000 ka karz hai, toh aap yuvaon ko naukri aur Dalit-Adivasi chatraon ko chhatravritti kaise denge?” (Every person in the state has a ₹50,000 debt, so how will you provide jobs to the youth or scholarships to Dalit and tribal students?)

“Ye sirf branding ki sarkar hai, badi-badi global summits par hazaaron crore uda deti hai, lekin Dalit-pichhde wargon aur kisaanon ke liye paisa nahi hai” (This is just a branding government. It spends thousands of crores on big global summits but has no money for Dalits, backward communities, or farmers).

Concluding his attack, he said, “Humari Congress party iska virodh karti hai, ye sirf karz lekar ghee peene wali sarkar hai” (Congress party strongly opposes this. This is a government that survives on loans while enjoying luxuries).
