In a significant real estate transaction, the Harivanshrai Bachchan Memorial Trust has acquired a parcel of land measuring 54,455 square feet in Manjha Village, Awadh, under the jurisdiction of Sadar Tehsil, Ayodhya.

According to documents accessed by CRE Matrix, a real estate data analytics firm, the land was purchased from HOABL Realtech Pvt Ltd for an agreement value of Rs 86,05,359, with a stamp duty payment of Rs 6,02,500. The registration of the property was completed on January 31, 2025.

While the exact purpose of the acquisition has not been disclosed, the purchase signals a potential development project by the trust, which is named after the renowned poet Harivanshrai Bachchan. Given Ayodhya’s cultural and religious significance, the deal has attracted attention from real estate and local observers.

Industry experts suggest that the transaction reflects the growing real estate activity in the region, fueled by infrastructure development and increased investor interest. Whether the trust plans to develop a cultural center, memorial, or any other initiative remains to be seen.

According to a senior official from UP revenue department, earlier, megastar Amitabh Bachchan had bought another piece of land on January 16 in Haveli Awadh. The transaction was valued at Rs 4.54 crore at that point in time. Both the land deals were done by Rajesh Rishikesh Yadav on behalf of Bachchan and Harivansh Rai Bachchan Memorial Trust.

The Bachchan family will use Haveli Awadh close to Ram Mandir for residential purposes while the bigger plot for memorial would be utilised for a social and charitable cause.
