Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Railway Board has postponed all departmental examinations to be held between April 2025 and March 2026 in the West Central Railway Zone and its three divisions - Jabalpur, Bhopal and Kota, on Wednesday.

This will affect more than 100 upcoming examinations held to fill over a thousand vacant posts, leaving lakhs of applicants in lurch.

The decision to postpone the upcoming exams comes amid alleged irregularities in departmental examinations held last year between April 2024-March 2025 in Kota.

According to railway officials, the results of the departmental examinations held in March 2025 have also been put on hold, effective until further notice, while the board develops a new system.

The Exam Scam?

Notably, there were reports of irregularities in the exams held for the posts of engineer, welfare inspector etc, in all three divisions of West Central Railway Zone, between April 2024-March 2025.

Claims of irregularities were made as several candidates scored full 100 marks in the paper, following which a CBI probe was ordered.

After CBI investigation report further flagged the loopholes and irregularities in the exams held in Kota last year, the Railway Board decided decided to postpone the upcoming exams. The new schedule of the exams will be released once a new system is developed to ensure fair examinations.
