As per some students, it was not the first time that such an incident had taken place. They alleged that two days ago also worms were found in the cabbage curry. "Earlier, a student found glass pieces in the food. Whenever we raise the issue, the mess staff say that it will not be repeated but it is recurring every other day,” said Ch Druhan, MA Philosophy student and Osmania University ABVP president as reported by Telangana Today.

Druhan further alleged that students have been charged Rs 2,500-Rs 3,000 per month for "substandard food" served in the hostel mess. He also claimed that the staff members were not working as per the schedule and students were forced to serve dinner for themselves.

The protesting students also raised concerns over the ongoing water crisis in the hostel. "There is no water supply to the hostels. Water tankers are being used to supply water. We don’t know from where the water is being brought but students are falling ill often. Instead of water tankers, we want the administration to go for a borewell,” students added as reported by the media house.

Earlier in February this year, students of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS alleged that they fell ill after eating food from the college canteen. However, The college administration alleged that 27 students fell ill due to food poisoning after consuming food from outside the college campus.
