Mumbai: Sion police has arrested a school bus driver for molesting a minor girl for the last 8 months. The accused used to molest the victim while travelling in the school bus. Despite the complaint, the school principal did not take any action against the driver, due to which the police have also registered a case against him.
According to Sion police, the accused was constantly harassing the minor girl. While returning home from school, he used to harass her on the pretext of playing. When the girl used to sit at the back of the bus, the driver used to call her near the driver's seat. When the victim's brother was also in the bus, the accused used to ask him to look out of the window and taking advantage of this situation, he used to molest the minor. Due to constant harassment, the victim was scared and was hesitant to go to school.
The matter came to light when the girl's family saw her fear and inquired about it. On March 3, the victim's family contacted the school principal and complained about the driver's misbehavior, but the school administration did not take any action. After this, the girl's mother lodged a complaint with the Sion police.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case against the school bus driver and under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. A police team arrested the accused driver from Sion Koliwada area.
The police have also issued a notice to the school principal under Section 35 (3) of the Indian Civil Security Code for not taking action against the accused driver despite the complaint.
