Mumbai: The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has signed a concession agreement with a consortium of M/s Trident Agrocom Exports Pvt. Ltd. and M/s Man Infraconstruction Ltd. for India's first-of-its-kind Export-Import cum Domestic Agro Processing and Storage Facility.
The Rs 285 crore project, developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, will be built on 27 acres at JNPA. Designed to handle 1.2 million tonnes of agricultural commodities annually, the facility will provide integrated storage solutions, including cold storage, pre-cooling, frozen storage, and dry warehouses. It will also feature advanced processing, sorting, packing, and testing infrastructure to ensure food safety and trade compliance.
JNPA Chairperson Unmesh Sharad Wagh highlighted the project’s significance in boosting agricultural exports, reducing post-harvest losses, and strengthening India's global agro-trade. The facility will cater to both perishable and non-perishable commodities, leveraging modern preservation technologies and automated processing systems. It will also streamline logistics with export packhouses, extensive loading zones, and on-site customs clearance.
Awarded in December 2024, the project is expected to enhance port-led industrial growth and promote coastal movement of agricultural goods, reinforcing JNPA’s role as a key player in India’s agro-trade sector.
