The maximum temperature in Nashik district has reached 36 degrees Celsius, and the mercury is expected to reach around 45 degrees Celsius over the next three months. Due to this, the Zilla Parishad Health Department has become alert. Chief Executive Officer Ashima Mittal has directed to set up heatstroke rooms in all 112 primary health centres in the district and to keep adequate stock of medicines there. Besides, rural health centres and district hospitals have been directed to treat patients suffering from heatstroke. Citizens have also been urged to avoid going out in the afternoon hours.

What are the symptoms of heatstroke?

1. Complaints like nausea, vomiting, fever, dry skin, loss of appetite, fatigue, dizziness and headache begin.

2. Mood worsens, the person babbles incoherently, becomes irritable. The tongue becomes heavy, sweats profusely, and the feet swell.

3. Abdominal pain or cramps, increased blood pressure, mental restlessness and restlessness and unconsciousness.

What to do to prevent heatstroke?

1. Drink 1 to 1.5 glasses of water every hour.

2. Drink drinks like lemon juice, fresh fruit juice, panhe, kokum sherbat, buttermilk and lassi.

3. Rest, wear loose, thin, light-coloured or white clothes.

Causes of heat stroke:

1. Doing long-term work in the field or other hard work in the summer.

2. Working in a boiler room in a factory or in a glass factory.

3. Working in a room with high temperature.

4.  Wearing tight clothes.

What to do to prevent heat stroke?

1. Do not go out in the sun unnecessarily.

 2. Take goggles, hat, handkerchief, umbrella or suncoat with you when going out.

3. If you have to go out, take care of protection from the sun.

Preventive measures: 

1. Avoid doing heavy work for a long time in rising temperatures when the summer season starts.

2. Finish heavy work in the morning or evening in low temperatures.

3. Do not wear clothes that absorb heat (black or dark colours).

4. Wear loose white clothes.

 5. Use water rehydration.

 6. Drink plenty of water.

7. Take a rest in the shade from time to time.

"Currently, the intensity of the sun is increasing. Citizens should be careful when going out of the house. If you start feeling the pain of heatstroke, consult medical authorities for medical advice or diagnosis. Children and senior citizens should take special care," said Dr Sudhakar More, District Health Officer, Zilla Parishad Nashik.
